Book Review: A Hunger So Wild

Hunger So Wild Sylvia Day

A Hunger So Wild by Sylvia Day is the sequel to A Touch Of Crimson. The same characters appear in this book, however it is told more from the vampires and the lycans side than the angels. As I mentioned in my previous book review of A Touch of Crimson this is a trilogy, and the third book isn’t due out until February 2013.  Elijah Reynolds is the head of the lycans (the Alpha Male) and they break away from the control of the angels. He becomes involved with Vashti the vampire who is second -in -charge of the Vampire community. They were mortal enemies but now the alliances have changed. Vashti is powerful and beautiful, and together they are a force to be reckoned with. Day writes her characters well. They are strong, edgy, and therefore interesting. There is plenty of action, sex, romance, loss, intrigue, and one liners to keep readers turning the pages.Adrian and Lindsay also make an appearance but they play a supporting role in this book. Enjoy :)

World War II Golf

Aint Golf Grand?

You have to hand it to the Brits when it comes to golf. And you thought you were a tough weather golfer. This notice posted in war-torn Britain in 1940 for golfers with stiff upper lips. You have to admit — these guys really had guts! German aircraft from Norway would fly on missions to northern England because of the icy weather conditions, the barrels of their guns had a small dab of wax to protectthem. As they crossed the coast, they would clear their guns by firing a few rounds at the golf courses. Golfers were urged to take cover.

No wonder Hilter couldn’t defeat the British.

BOOK REVIEW: A TOUCH OF CRIMSON

A Touch Of Crimson by Sylvia Day

A Touch of Crimson by Sylvia Day is the first book in the Renegade Angels Trilogy. I have never read any of her books before but she is a prolific writer, and writes under a few names. If you like angels, werewolves, vampires, and demons with a human or two thrown in, and a dash of sex , then  this book will be right up your alley. The book is well written, and there is plenty of action with the balance of power shifting between the vampires, lycans, and the angels. I had a bit of a problem getting my head around the behaviour of the angels (religious upbringing) but if you just take them as they are written then you won’t have a problem. Adrian Mitchell is the head of the Special Ops Unit of the Seraphim (angels). He has immense power and his job is to punish The Fallen (vampires). He becomes involved with a human, Lindsay Gibson. I won’t tell you anymore as I don’t want to spoil it for you. I have nearly finished book 2, A Hunger So Wild,  but  book 3,   A Taste Of Seduction won’t be released until February 2013.

Bus Riding Cat

Bus riders in Bridport, Dorset England often have an unusual companion on their way to and from work each day  an adventurous, 15-year-old cat named Artful Dodger.  Dodger, a beautiful orange tabby, regularly boards the bus at the stop near his house and takes a 10-mile round trip, much to the amusement of the bus passengers and drivers. Sometimes, Dodger even hops on a lucky rider’s lap for a cuddle.  The bus drivers and regular passengers know Dodger, and always make sure he gets off at his stop at the end of each journey. Some passengers even bring Dodger food and treats each day.  Dodger’s owner, Fee Jeanes, said she was extremely surprised when she discovered the cat’s secret life. One of her daughter’s friends said she saw Dodger on bus 10 miles from the family’s home.  Fee tells the London Telegraph, “I couldn’t believe it and panicked. I got into my car to go off and look for him and then at that moment the bus pulled up near our house and lo and behold he got off.  She soon found out that wasn’t the first time Dodger had gone cruising the city by mass transit.  “That afternoon I saw Dodger climb on board another bus and I rushed to tell the driver. I was shocked when she told me Dodger was always on there and liked to sit on the seats because they are warm from where people have been sitting.  The bus company, First, told the Telegraph that they don’t mind if Dodger hitches a ride with them, saying, “Given this cat is elderly we suspect it would be eligible for free travel, perhaps a bus puss, if such a thing existed.”

I got a laugh out of this one, so I am no longer grumpy and frustrated.

Now this is the way to play ping pong. I wish my dogs could play but they both too short, sorta like their owner.   :)

Feeling Grumpy and Frustrated

Ok! so today I am reading all the posts of the blogs I subscribe to on the Reader. I go through them every day and click on LIKE for the ones that I enjoy. I have been noticing the last few days that when I go back into the Reader all my likes are gone. So I started going on the individual blogs and saw that none of my likes have shown up. Has anyone else had this problem? Is this something new with WordPress? I was annoyed because I try to encourage other bloggers, and now it looks like all my hard work has gone to waste GRRR!

I think the LIKES are an important part of blogging. They show that we appreciate the time and effort our fellow bloggers have put into their posts. It also helps to create a community feel. I enjoy going through my blog to see who has liked my posts, and I am sure that other bloggers feel the same. It makes you feel accepted and vindicated. So my friends if you have been missing my LIKES, never fear I have been doing them. I am not sure if this is a temporary problem with WordPress or they have changed something. Anyhow, whatever it is I hope they take note and fix it soon.

Fingal Headland and the Tweed River

Fingal Headland and the Tweed River (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Well our holidays are over and we are home again. Did you miss me ? I tried to blog every day but sometimes it wasn’t possible. We took the caravan to Fingal ( Northern New South Wales) for a week. It was so peaceful there. I loved seeing the dolphins every day and the whales. We used to walk up to the lighthouse and look out and watch the salt spray coming off the waves in white wispy clouds.  There is a place there called the Giants Causeway and the waves just pound through there. It sounds like thunder. Very Impressive! I wish I was a painter when I see the beauty in the world, like beautiful sunrises or sunsets, or all of nature really. The caravan park is on the beach and the last few days were very windy (southerly). The poor van was rocking and rolling at times. We were amazed at the destruction as there were so many trees were lying on the beach, and the sand erosion was terrible. We went on some lovely drives to Pottsville and Hastings Point. It’s really pretty country. The Spouse caught a huge flathead which we ate for lunch. It was yummy too. The Spouse loves to fish and he was the only one that caught anything. The weather was really against us but we had a wonderful time anyway.

There was a sea-eagles nest there too and we went every day to check on the chick to make sure he hadn’t blown out of the nest. He had very conscientious parents who were there with him most of the day. It was amazing to watch them bring in fresh fish for him several times a day.

Once we got home we had to unpack the van and clean it so it is all ready for next time. Then I had to get stuck into the washing, how many clothes can two people wear? The poor gardens needed a good water too. We collected our dogs and our birds from their Aunty Nora and they were pleased to see us. They love going to her place but they love coming home again too. My budgie, Sweetie, is glued to my shoulder and doesn’t want me to go anywhere without him, and the canary, Jamie, hasn’t stopped singing. The two dogs won’t leave me alone either, my lap will be worn out soon. It’s funny isn’t it? I enjoy going away and am sad to leave but I love coming home too. Anyhow I must be off and do some more work. Good to catch up with all of you again.  :)

Golfing Joke

Putting

Wife’s Diary:
Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird. We had made plans to meet at a nice restaurant for dinner. I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it. Conversation wasn’t flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk. He agreed, but he didn’t say much. I asked him what was wrong; He said, ‘Nothing.’ I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset. He said he wasn’t upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it. On the way home, I told him that I loved him. He smiled slightly, and kept driving. I can’t explain his behavior I don’t know why he didn’t say, ‘I love you, too.’ When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore. He just sat there quietly, and watched TV. He continued to seem distant and absent. Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed.
About 15 minutes later, he came to bed. But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else. He fell asleep; I cried. I don’t know what to do. I’m almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else. My life is a disaster.

Husband’s Diary:

A five putt;  who the hell  five putts?!

Blonde Joke

Biker Girls Bar

An old, blind cowboy wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake.

He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels.

After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, ‘Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?’

The bar immediately falls absolutely silent.

In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says,
‘Before you tell that joke, Cowboy, I think it is only fair,Given that you are blind, that you should know five things:
1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.
2. The bouncer is a blonde girl.
3. I’m a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate.
4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weight lifter.
5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler.
Now, think about it seriously, Cowboy. Do you still wanna tell that blonde joke?’
The blind cowboy thinks for a second, shakes his head and mutters, ‘No…not if I’m gonna have to explain it five times.’
