Book Review: UNNATURAL HABITS

UNNATURAL HABITS by best-selling author, Kerry Greenwood, is a rollicking good read. I enjoy her books as she manages to touch on many topics, and she portrays life in the 1920’s with realism.

Her protagonist is Phryne Fisher,  a woman who is made of sterner stuff. She is wealthy, strong, independent, and a fighter for justice. Phryne is also sexy,  glamorous, uninhibited, and cheeky.

The series is set in Melbourne Australia in the 1920’s.

In this book Phryne uses her detective skills to take on the might of the Catholic Church, and its attitudes to young pregnant girls. In the process she foils some slave traders, and rescues some ‘fallen women‘, and she shows compassion and foresight in her dealings with people. Phryne is a wonderful friend but a very bad enemy.

Kerry Greenwood has written 18 books in the Miss Fisher Murder Series. The books have been made into a television series. This is the first series  www.imdb.com/title/tt1988386/
