Back On The Internet

Did you miss me? We just got our internet back. We lost it 5 days ago with all the damage from cyclone Oswald.  It’s funny how you feel so disconnected from everything when you don’t have the internet. Mind you we were very lucky, apart from a couple of trees down and windows leaking from the wind pressure we escaped. There are still thousands of people without power and homes and businesses. My heart goes out to them. It was only two years ago we had a massive flood that destroyed a lot of the infrastructure in our state and destroyed many homes and businesses.  Now it’s happened again. They are saying on the news that there is billions of dollars damage. Some of the poor people still haven’t finished repairing the damage from the last flood. It’s so heartbreaking for them.  There were lots of wildlife in trouble too with birds blown out of nests and koalas hurt as well as lots of seabirds.

Our city has been declared a disaster zone and when you walk around the streets you see all the poor trees. The ones that haven’t blown over have lost lots of leaves and the leaves that remain all look like they are dying. There were wind gusts of 140km per hour.

The low that caused all the damage was from ex -cyclone Oswald and it stretches from the top of Queensland down to Sydney, so it’s a massive area.  They call it an ex-cyclone but there is nothing ex about it. It will take years to fix it all again.

Thanks it is nice to be back. We keep losing our internet because they are still trying to repair all the damage. But my problems are minor compared to our whole state which is devastated. Such a shame as we only had a major flood two years ago and now those poor people have lost everything again. Some of them had just finished repairing the damage from the last flood. There are lots of bridges washed away and roads and railway lines etc so the government has a big job trying to repair the infrastructure again. Makes you wonder if this is all from global warming doesn’t it? They told us the last flood was a one in one hundred year flood and two years later those poor people have to do it all again. talk soon Judy 🙂

So glad that you are back and that you are ok. Something goofy is going on in the world, I think. Too many horrible storms lately.

I couldn’t agree with you more. Two years ago we had a ‘one in one hundred year flood’ can you believe that. and now it’s happening all over again. My heart really goes out to those poor people who are still trying to repair the damage from the last one. cheers Judy 🙂

Glad you are back and safe. A friend just had tornadoes go through where she lives in Georgia. It is getting scary with all of these storms. Blessings – Patty

Yes we had tornadoes here too not where I live but up north. Our whole state is devastated. The people around here are told each time it floods it is a 50 yr flood…those 50 years are coming closer together.

it sure is, I am glad we do not live a flood zone, but that said in ’72 this area did get flooded from the sewer systems backing up.
